Asset License
What you get when you commission a character. The short version: it's yours, exclusively, for anything you want to build — you just can't turn around and sell the raw files as an asset pack.
LAST UPDATED 2 AUGUST 2026
01WHAT YOU RECEIVE
On final payment we grant you a perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, transferable and exclusive licence to the commissioned character, and assign to you every right we hold in it that is capable of assignment.
Exclusive means what it sounds like: we do not resell, relicense, or reuse your character. It was built for you and it stays yours. We do not commission the same character to anyone else.
Rights transfer on final payment, not on delivery of proofs. Proofs are for review only.
02WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH IT
- Use it in commercial and non-commercial projects, with no cap on revenue, units, or seats.
- Modify, retexture, rerig, remodel, or dismantle it however you like.
- Use it in games, film, animation, cinematics, VR, marketing, merchandise, and print.
- Include it inside a game or application you distribute, including on storefronts.
- Transfer your rights to someone else — a publisher, a client, an acquirer — in writing.
- Register whatever copyright is available in the result under your own name.
No credit is required. Crediting us is welcome, never expected.
03WHAT YOU CAN'T DO WITH IT
There is one real restriction, and it exists so you aren't competing against your own commission:
- Don't redistribute the source files as an asset — you can't list the character on Fab, the Unity Asset Store, ArtStation, Gumroad, or any other marketplace as a downloadable model, template, or pack.
- Don't sublicense the raw files to third parties as standalone assets. Contractors and collaborators working on your project are fine.
- Don't use them to train generative models or include them in a training dataset.
Shipping the character inside your game, film, or application is never a problem, even where players can extract files. The line is selling the asset as an asset.
04AI-ASSISTED PRODUCTION AND COPYRIGHT
Generative tools are used during production. Every final character is artist-directed, refined, optimised, rigged, and configured for Unreal Engine 5 — but the pipeline includes AI-generated material, and you should understand what that means for ownership.
Under current United States Copyright Office guidance, material produced by a generative model without sufficient human authorship may not be protectable by copyright, and no one — us or you — can own what copyright law does not protect. Human authorship in the direction, refinement, modelling, and rigging work is protectable, and that is what we assign to you.
We assign every right we actually hold, exclusively and in full. We cannot promise that every element of an AI-assisted work is protectable by copyright, because that is a question of law and not of contract.
In practice this affects almost nothing about using the character commercially: your right to use, modify, and ship it is contractual and unaffected. It matters if you intend to sue someone else for copying it. If your project depends on registrable copyright — a publisher requirement, for instance — raise it before ordering and we will tell you what we can and can't stand behind.
05PORTFOLIO USE
We may show the character in our portfolio, gallery, and marketing. That's it — showing images or video of the work, never distributing the files.
- Tell us in writing before delivery and we'll keep your commission out of public view entirely.
- Unreleased project details you share stay confidential regardless.
- We'll hold back publication until your announcement if you ask — just tell us the date.
Email us to opt out; there is no charge for it.
06THIRD-PARTY COMPONENTS
Some builds interoperate with technology we don't own. Epic Skeleton and MetaHuman-pipeline builds depend on Epic Games technology and remain subject to Epic's own licence terms, which sit alongside this one and which we can't vary.
Where a build includes third-party or open-licensed components, we say so in the delivery notes with the terms that apply.
07MATERIAL YOU SEND US
Concept art, reference photos, mood boards, and briefs stay yours. You grant us only what we need to do the job: permission to use that material to produce your commission.
You confirm you have the rights to whatever you send. We don't use your reference material for other clients, and we don't use it to train models.
08IF PAYMENT DOESN'T COMPLETE
No rights transfer until the balance clears. If an order is cancelled or abandoned before final payment, everything produced remains ours, and any proofs you hold may not be used in a project.
These terms work alongside our Terms of Service. Where they genuinely conflict on a question of ownership, this licence wins.
